Need some good karma? If so, here’s a race for you.
On Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Seattle’s Seward Park, a lot of good karma is going to take place. The Good Karma 5K is Seattle’s only choose your own charity race. Select from a list of ten charities when you register and a portion of your proceeds will go to that charity. Charities to choose from include: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Northwest Harvest, Seattle Children’s, Arc of King County, Solid Ground, People for Puget Sound, Arts Fund, USO Puget Sound, Lifelong AIDS Alliance and the Seattle Humane Society.
The charity with the most participants running will also receive an additional bonus donation. Good Karma points can also be racked up by bringing a can of food for the Northwest Harvest food drive, donating your gently worn shoes to Redeeming Soles, registering on the Be The Match Bone Marrow Registry, donating your hair to Locks of Love (and get a free haircut), registering on the Organ Donation List and by writing thank you cards to troops. You will feel like a saint by the end of the morning and will have gotten a great workout too!
The race features a traffic-free course along the shores of Lake Washington. Participants will receive a goody bag, a t-shirt, a finish-line party with hot coffee, food and drinks. Prizes for top runners and tons of random door prizes. The race is professionally timed for accuracy. Free race day photos also.
Registration and packet pickup start at 7:30 a.m. on Race Day. Race begins at 9 a.m. Pricing is listed below. For more information, visit Good Karma 5K’s website.
