The DuPont Police Department is seeking any information the public might have about recent vandalism that occurred at DuPont’s historic Wilkes Observatory site. In a statement from the city, the vandalism occurred on or about November 13. Hand-carved benches donated by Jerry Manuel and a split rail fence donated by the Sequalitchew Creek Watershed Council were burned.
City Administrator Dawn Masko said in her November 23 City Administrator’s Report, “It is disheartening to know that the work of many dedicated volunteers was destroyed in such a reckless manner by what appears to be a group of partiers.”
The City is seeking the public’s assistance to track down those involved in this act. Please contact the DuPont Police Department at 253- 964-7060 with any information.
